Virtual dental surgery

Virtual dental surgery refers to a virtual reality simulation of surgical procedures.
Such simulations are used to practice often dangerous surgical procedures without the need for an actual patient. Virtual dental surgery is used as an analog for the actual surgery where doctors can practice on a virtual patient before performing the virtual dental surgery

Types of surgeries commonly simulated are laparoscopic surgery where the surgeon cannot physically see the operation being performed. Virtual dental surgery uses a computer screen displaying a 3-dimensional graphic of the organs being operated on. Various surgical tools or gloves are connected to motion sensors and haptic or tactile feedback mechanisms where the user can physically feel the difference in simulated tissue and organs. The user can "perform surgery" upon the virtual organs by manipulating the tools, which are also displayed on the screen as the user moves them, and the tools also provide force-feedback and collision detection to indicate to the user when they are pushing on or moving some organs or tissue. By inputting data from computerized tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans the patient can be replicated in the virtual environment. The advantages of this type of simulation is surgeons can practice operations multiple times without the use of cadavers or animals. Virtual dental surgery would give an objective evaluation of a surgeon dexterity combined with a more intensive training activity. It would allow the simulation of rare pathological cases and could simulate the interaction with several organs. Complications can be introduced during the surgery testing the user on real world scenarios. Virtually trained dental students may be more proficient and make fewer errors, and would thus be better prepared to assist during surgery.
The first virtual surgery (where actual surgery followed the virtual practise) was performed on 17 August 2009 when Dr David Clarke in Halifax, Nova Scotia removed a brain tumour 24 hours after removing a simulated tumour.

Cardiac & Thoracic Surgery

Section of Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery at the University of Chicago, draws on the tradition of innovative clinical practice and scientific research to provide the highest level of care to our patients. We continue to pioneer and develop new programs and techniques.

Our surgeons have created a program known for a heart transplant, which is the largest in Illinois and the second largest in the Middle Zapade.Klyuchevoy element of our success is our patient waiting lists transplantation than the national average. Although the most recent national data show that patients wait an average of eight months for a transplant, 50 percent of our patients receive the transplant in about a month. In addition, physicians and surgeons in our program were first managed at the same time, heart transplants, liver and kidneys and have extensive experience in multiple organ transplants. In February 2006, led by Wicki Vigneswaran, MD, we have expanded our thoracic surgery and transplantation programs include both lung and lung / heart transplant. These additions, together with our practice, thoracic surgery, will allow us to serve more patients with lung disease.

The operation, usually the first line of attack against breast cancer. This section describes the various types of surgical treatment of breast cancer.

surgery

Decisions about surgery depend on many factors. You and your doctor will determine the type of intervention that works best for you depending on the stage of cancer, "identity" of cancer, and that is acceptable to you in terms of your long-term peace of mind.

Surgery

Each year, more than 15 million people in the U.S. have surgery. There are many reasons to have surgery. Some operations can relieve or prevent pain. Others may reduce the symptoms of the problem or improve some body functions. Some activities are done to find the problem. For example, the surgeon may do a biopsy, which involves removal of tissue for examination under a microscope. Some measures, such as heart surgery can save lives.

In recent years, many advances in surgery. Not so long ago, all the operations involved cutting with a scalpel. At present, some operations are performed with a laser. Some operations that once required large incisions - the cuts in the body - can now be done using much smaller incisions.

After surgery, the risk of complications can occur, including infection, bleeding, too, reaction to anesthesia, or accidental damage. There is almost always some pain with surgery.

Surgery

Surgery (from the Greek: χειρουργική cheirourgikē, Via Latina: chirurgiae, which means "hand") is a medical specialty that uses ancient manual and instrumental methods for the patient to investigate and / or treatment of diseases such as illness or accident, or to help improve physical function or appearance.

In this context, the verb means to perform surgical operatsii.Prilagatelnoe surgical tools associated with surgery, such as surgical instruments or surgical medsestry.Patsient or subject on which you perform the operation may be individuals or zhivotnogo.Hirurg is a person who performs operations on patients. In rare cases, surgeons can work for you. Persons described as surgeons are usually medical, but the term is also applied to podiatrists, dentists (also known as maxillofacial surgery), and veterinarians.
